Abrasive Cloth Grip Discs

Another recent Cibo Abrasives innovation.

High performance grinding, sanding & polishing with the simplicity of a velcro fixing system.  We recommend the Cibo Ceramic discs for heavier stock removal and the 3M 237GR Trizact discs for refining & polishing stainless steel.  The heavy duty backing and premium abrasive gives a fast cut and a premium finishing process.

Ensure all grinding is completed with the FX87GR discs - available in 60, 80, 100 & 120 grit.  Then the blending, refining and polishing can be completed with the Trizact discs which are available through to 2000 grit.

These discs are part of the Cibo Time Saving Kit family of products.

Abrasive Cloth Grip Discs FAQs

  • What speed should I be working at?

All these products will safely run at 80 m/s (normal max angle grinder speed) but if you wish to get your best from any abrasive, particularly on stainless steel, then slowing the disc down is the best way to achieve that.  Ideally we recommend running the FX87GR discs at around 40 to 60 m/s and the Trizact discs a little slower again, between 35 and 45 m/s.

  • Which back up pad should I be using?

Cloth grip discs easily fit onto your backing pad (SKU: 75mm – 75VEL/VZ, 115mm – 115VEL/VZ, 125mm – 125VEL/VZ, description ‘Back Up Pad Trizact’). Select from the options on the left hand side to view discs by diameter, grit size and grit type and find the right cloth grip disc for you.

  • Which disc should I use to remove a TIG weld on stainless steel?

For speed and controllability our standard recommendation are the FX87GR Cibo Ceramic discs. With the grip backing pad and a foam interface pad to help keep the surface cooler they are a great choice.

  • Which disc should I use to remove a scratch on stainless steel panel?

Most scratches can be removed with the A65 Trizact discs which will leave a fine 280 grit finish. This finish is then much easier to blend back into the original finish than a coarser disc.

  • What is the foam interface pad?

    SKU: 75IT, 115IT and 125IT

The foam interface pads were developed specifically for the Cibo Time Saving Kits. They help to reduce grinding temperature, improve disc lifetime and reduce ongoing costs (replace the interface pad, not the whole backing pad when the foam is worn).
