Mirror polishing large panels of flat stainless steel to a high standard is one of the most challenging processes in the metal finishing world.
This process is suitable for repairing small areas of damage only. We recommend that you begin this sequence at as fine a grade as is practically possible. In any respect we have assumed a finish which can be effectively refined with a P80 abrasive disc as the start point.
In principle use the discs in the sequence laid out on the page below ensuring that:
1. When changing to the next grade of disc change the angle of the grinding lines such that they are offset by approximately 30 degrees from the previous sanding lines and
2. When using the polishing soaps ensure the surface is cleaned fully before the next grade of polish is used and use a different felt disc for the 2 different polishing soaps (PV/103 Vienna chalk is recommended for this removing any excess polishing compound with a soft cloth).
