The unique design of the Finitube means that not only can it wrap 270 degrees around a 50mm tube, but when working around a curve, the tube becomes an extra drive roller, pulling the flexible belts into the curve and keeping them on the machine. When the Finitube was first developed, Cibo took the opportunity to look at other machines on the market. Existing machines on the market did a reasonable job on straight tubes but really struggled to polish curved tubes. The problem was the way the tube polishers were held. A wishbone type construction meant that control was lost on the bends, so Cibo took a different approach.
Cibo created the Finitube arm to wrap abrasive belts around the tube, working in the horizontal plain. This means that when operating the Finitube, the control hand is directly over the tube so that the belt can wrap well around the tube. The tube then becomes an additional contact wheel for the belts. Wrapping around the tube actually helps keep the abrasive belts on the Finitube rather than throwing the belts onto the floor!
Bends become easy with the Finitube.
Technically there is no limit to the maximum tube diameter because the mouth of the Finitube will keep opening up but in practical terms we recommend 5″ or 127mm diameter tube as the largest practical diameter.
You can however be confident that you will not damage your workpiece whatever the tube diameter as Cibo put a stop at the top of the arm to prevent the rollers from hitting the workpiece. Just another reason why the Finitube is the best tube polisher available.
Very. The Cibo has a European manufactured 1700 watt variable speed motor in both 110 and 230 volt options and with the power being taken out to the end of the arm with strong v-drive belts you can be confident you will get the best performance out of your abrasives.
We supply the Finitube in a strong metal case with a range of belts already included, so you are ready to go (see literature for details).
Belts are available from 36 grit for stock removal, through to 2000 grit for bright finishing, so you should never be caught short with the Cibo Finitube.
