For general grinding of sheet metal fabrication work you can often ‘get away with almost any belt’. But we want to recommend the ‘right product’ which will give you optimum life and therefore be the most cost effective option. In which case the first thing you need is a strong backing for your abrasive cloth. Then a premium zirconia abrasive makes a big difference in terms of speed of cut and belt life:
HZ72: So our first recommendation: with a Y-weight waterproof polyester backing and a premium zirconia grain the HZ72 zirconia belt will give you just that.
FX87: If you want to step up a gear because you are using the grinder all day and need really high belt life, a fast but fine finish and a cool cut then we have also included the Cibo FX87 ceramic belts. They might cost a bit more but boy do they last…
