This process will show you how to remove paint from aluminium or brass with a die grinder It is important to note when sanding paint of aluminium surface that the paint is often harder than the metal. To prevent damage to the aluminium or brass we recommend non-woven abrasive wheels. The first choice for speed of material removal combined with protection to the metal surface is our new FAUS unitised wheels.
All the recommended wheels will fit into a drill or die grinder with a 6mm collet.
Both of the wheels we recommend will remove paint easily. The difference between them is in the lifetime. The TS tex / scotchbrite wheel will remove the paint quickly but will wear out significantly quicker. The FAUS Unitised FA3 wheel is our recommended first choice due to it's lifetime and the slightly finer finish it will leave on the metal.
