AFS Range of Cibo Lap Mops Continues to Grow

Recent concern has been expressed about the future of nonwoven lap mops in the UK. Sia abrasives have already stopped production and their nonwoven manufacturing will close at the end of the year. At AFS we can confirm that not only do we remain committed to the range we are also extending their availability.

Tex / Scotchbrite Lap Mop Range

Lap mops are available ex stock in Coarse, Medium, Fine and Very Fine A grades and in 100mm and 150mm diameters.

The number of ‘laps’ defines the width of all lap mops. Which means that a 150 x 6 lap mop will be 150mm diameter and have 6 individual laps. The width of each individual lap varies by grade.

Cibo lap mops are made with heavy duty tex materials giving them a great lifetime and edge durability.

Tex Scotchbrite Lap Mops

Our standard range of tex lap mops is available in 100mm and 150mm diameters but we also sell 250mm diameter lap mops for working on spindle polishers.

250mm diameter lap mops are a standard item in our Medium A grade and with 4 laps.

100mm diameter lap mops are available from stock in Medium A and Fine A grades.

150mm diameter lap mops are the most popular size and are available from stock in Coarse A, Medium A, Fine A and Very Fine A grades.

Unitised Lap Mops - New Product

We first developed the unitised lap mops at the request of our customers in Ireland. They wanted a stronger mop for working on stainless steel welds and fabrications. Particularly for dressing and cleaning welds. We tested them on box section, on complex profiles, catering fabrications and on stainless steel exhaust systems. Now we are making them available in the UK for the first time.

Available from stock in 150mm diameter our first unitised lap mop our customers specified it should have three laps.

What Are The Main Benefits of Unitised Lap Mops?

Lifetime. With the impregnated structure unitised lap mops will outlast a traditional lap mop many times.
Consistency of Finish. The full impregnation of the abrasive grain means a very consistent finish throughout the full life of the lap mop.

Why only 3 laps?

Each lap is 13mm wide so this makes the total width almost 40mm. Ideal for cleaning and polishing welds to leave a clean and fine satin finish.

Cibo define unitised products by their density which isn’t much help when you are choosing which grade to buy. The FA density 3 lap mops will leave a very similar finish to a medium A lap mop.
