Best Belts for Removing Stainless Tig Welds with the Dynafile 11 Powerfile

As the Dynafile 11 has the option of changing arms we would recommend the 13mm belts for but weld dressing and 6mm belts for the internal corners such as on a stainless steel handrail corner.

A good quality tig weld will mean the stock removal needed is quite low whilst the quality of finish required will be high. We therefore recommend the FX87 80 grit sanding belts for the Dynafile 11. The ceramic abrasive grain has more than enough power to remove the weld without causing too much ancillary damage.

The Best Sanding Belts for Grinding Steel Mig Welds on Handrails

Mig welds tend to be larger than tig welds and also the finish requirement tends to be less so we recommend a higher aggression belt for grinding a mild steel mig weld.

The FX87 60 grit ceramic belts are ideal for sanding mig welds with the Dynafile 11 machine. The 60 grit will give fast stock removal whilst the finish achieve will be acceptable for red oxide painting.

As mig welds are larger the 13mm belts will probably be the best option. We have also provided a link to the 6mm wide belts for narrow access applications..

The Best High Aggression Belts for Heavy Duty Mig Weld Grinding

On heavier structures a wider mig weld is necessary. Which means more stock removal is required whilst the finish is less critical.

Here is a classic example where the Cibo FX87 36 or 40 grit ceramic belts come into their own. High stock removal and long life 13mm file belts on a rounded contact wheel are the ideal option here with the Dynafile 11.

Best Sanding Belts for Removing Stainless Steel Weld Colour with the Dynafile 11 Powerfile

For blending the weld colour without removing the weld or for refining and finishing the tube after sanding with the FX87 80 grit belts we would recommend our RC2 medium surface conditioning belts. It is normally best to use 13mm wide belts in this application unless access is an issue, in which case we also have the 6mm belts available from stock.

Recommended Process for Mirror Polishing Stainless Steel with the Dynafile 11 Powerfile

Mirror polishing stainless steel means many different things in different applications. This process will give you a good quality, bright finish which will be acceptable in the vast Majority of applications. The process assumes you have previously removed any weld with the FX87 80 grit belts (see above).
